- Description:
- The city of Reykjavík holds a two-stage construction competition for a new integrated kindergarten and elementary school, a leisure centre and a community centre, as well as a new pedestrian and bicycle bridge in Fleyvangi. The structures will serve the new Vogabyggð, but up to 1500 apartments are expected in the area. The approved master plan allows the development of 1900 apartments. There will also be a new outdoor recreation area and public space for the citizens of Fleyvangi, and the development of the area is part of the competition. The bridge will be an important landmark for the area and the most important transportation artery between the residential area and the school building. It is expected that the construction will be divided into phases as the population increases, but 720 students can be expected after the construction is completed.
